Gulliver's Travels (Part 1)

Thomas has always loved building things and traveling to distant places. Although his parents worried about him, he constructed a small sailboat last summer. He has explored many islands since he began his journeys, discovering beautiful beaches and forests. The most amazing adventure happened when he sailed to a remote island that few people had visited. Thomas encountered animals there which behaved in extraordinary ways, including birds that could speak simple words. He has kept detailed notes about everything he witnessed during that remarkable month. When Thomas finally sailed home, he brought back incredible stories to share. He described what he had seen with great excitement, but most listeners refused to believe his tales. They thought his imagination was creating fantasies because the stories seemed impossible. Thomas felt disappointed, although he understood their skepticism. He realized that people often doubt what they cannot experience themselves. What he learned on that journey has made him more thoughtful about sharing adventures. Returning home with unbelievable stories can be a lonely experience. Thomas now knows that some truths are difficult for others to accept.
