A Tale of Two Cities

The accumulation of generational suffering under an oppressive system creates a psychological pressure that is difficult to quantify. Although peaceful reform is always preferable, the perspective of those who have endured injustice for decades can become radically altered. When essential needs are consistently denied and dignity is systematically stripped away, the consequence is a deep-seated resentment that festers beneath the surface. This resentment becomes so significant that it challenges the very foundation of social order. The establishment of a fair society is therefore not merely an ideal but a practical necessity for stability. However, if the ruling class remains indifferent to this growing discontent, they risk triggering an uncontrollable explosion of public anger. The poor of Paris had been marginalized for so many generations that their collective frustration reached a breaking point. This historical example demonstrates that the normalization of injustice does not eliminate its destructive potential. Unless genuine efforts are made to address systemic flaws and contribute to equitable solutions, violent upheaval becomes increasingly probable. The management of social grievances requires constant attention and adaptation. Whereas some believe time heals all wounds, prolonged injustice often deepens them, making eventual conflict more severe and difficult to contain.
